Abstract:

This data set represents the mean annual extreme minimum temperature for the 1976-2005 period. The data set was created by assembling high quality station data of 30-year mean annual extreme minimum temperatures, quality control checks of the station data, and interpolation of that data using the PRISM modeling system.

Purpose:

Develop an approved, updated mean annual extreme minimum temperature data set for the 1976-2005 period with a goal of meeting modern standards of geostatistical analysis and data resolution. The resulting data set would then be used to derive an official USDA-ARS Plant Hardiness Zone Map (PHZM).
